The Knowle and Dorridge Lions Club has been working in the community for nearly 50 years. In 2023 we are planning an ambitious agenda of events and activies. Events take time and effort to organise but that can be great fun. To see the community enjoy themselves at an event you have helped to organise while also raising money for local charities is hugely rewarding. And you get to wear a Hi-Viz vest!

The Lions are not just about big events and fund raising. A local Lion will be doing work for the community most days and we also support non-Lions events such as Dorridge Day and Knowle Lights Switch On. We also help to maintain the Knowle Knot Garden.

Sometimes recently, there are just not enough of our club members to deliver our full agenda. Members are increasingly ageing, working odd hours and have home commitments. In addition to the Lions Club members, we also rely on many friends. And over the last few years, we have also seen our friendly volunteers dwindle. With the agenda we have for 2023, that is not ideal.

So if there is anyone out there that doesn't want to become a Lions member or committed long term but would be interested in supporting Lions activities on an ad-hoc basis, we would really like to hear from you. The nature of the help would be whatever works for you in any time you can spare. Activities could be anything from administration tasks, organising events, litter picking, Vaccination Centre support, supporting seniors events, business liaison, delivering mince pies - really whatever works. You might also be able to push the cause of your favourite charity. For younger friends, the Lions could also help with Duke of Edinburgh Award activities and add practical experience for personal statements in University applications.

Whoever you are and whatever your background, your help would be welcomed.  Whether young or old, male or female from Bentley Heath, Dorridge, Knowle, Chadwick End, Hockley Heath or beyond. You do not need any qualifications or specific skills, just time and enthusiasm!
