With thanks to the management for both the Black Boy at Chadwick End and the Drum & Monkey, Dorridge; to Standley’s Solicitors of Knowle for their generous support yet again this year covering the costs of all the tickets and both the baskets of Thornton’s eggs; and all those who purchased tickets.
This years raffles raised £1138 for Arthritis Research UK, Solihull Young Carers, Knowle Football club & other local causes.
Last Saturday morning a dedicated group of Lions could be seen loitering around a number of strategic points – Knowle Precinct & the High Street crossing outside One Stop – encouraging shoppers to donate a few shekels.
The takings, after Gift Aid has been added, of around £360 will be donated to Knowle based Dream Makers children’s charity
“We like to collect on the day before Mothering Sunday as there are usually more shoppers around Knowle,” said Lion President Barry Dale (above left). “As much as anything it is about showing our presence. We would like to recruit a few more Lions to swell our numbers for this and other fundraising events.” Interested? Contact
Thanks to all the shoppers who donated.
Anyone frequenting the Black Boy or Drum and Monkey public houses at lunchtimes and evenings from the 4th to the 17th April will have the opportunity to buy a raffle ticket in our Easter Egg Raffle in aid of, Northleigh House, Visioncare for Homeless People and the Brain Tumour Charity.
The raffle prize at each pub is a large basketful of chocolate eggs and treats donated by our sponsors Standley & Co. The raffle will be drawn on the evening of 17th at each of the pubs, but don’t worry if you are a winner but are not there, we do deliver!
