Treacherous Festive Walk

Treacherous driving and walking conditions faced those wishing to join Wednesday’s Lions Festive Walk, but it did not stop almost 800 walkers taking part and donating approaching £3,500 – both figures well down on recent years

“The snow and rain overnight followed by freezing temperatures this morning together with waterlogged paths really tested the resolve of walkers this year,” said organiser Lion James Dawes. “I understand these were some of the worst conditions we have experienced in the 25 years the Walks have been going, and certainly nothing like last year when 2500 walkers donated a record £14,000. We are really sorry for the nominated charities who did sterling work supporting our members on the day”

If you took part and have any photos please forward them to us, so we may add them to our website. Also if you have any feedback, good, bad or indifferent, we would be delighted to hear from you

If you missed out today please download the maps for the mini, short & medium routes and long route and follow them at your leisure in nicer weather and possibly make a donation now
