Longstanding Knowle & Dorridge Lions Club lion Stuart Davis has been inaugurated as the Mayor of Solihull for 2017/18.
Stuart who joined Knowle and Dorridge Lions in 1996 from Tenerife Sur club where he had served as President and Zone Chairman, originally joined Lions back in 1987. In our Club he has undertaken numerous roles including President 1999/2000, and became a Melvin Jones Fellow in 2016. Careful never to mix Lions and politics Stuart has been one of the many stalwarts of the club for 20 years and has asked to be allowed to go ‘at large’ for the duration of his Mayoralty, but has insisted on clearing his Mayoral diary for the club’s key fundraising events -the 34th Knowle Fun Run, 12th Heart of England Bike Ride and 25th Lions Festive Walk
Stuart’s political ‘career’ started in Solihull way back in 1979 and was re-kindled in 1999. His prime interest has been serving on Solihull’s Planning Committee chairing it for many years, and more recently Transport and West Midlands Fire Services.
