Defib for Arden

There is now a community defibrillator at Arden Academy thanks to Knowle & Dorridge Lions, Knowle and Dorridge Round Table, Hunters Estate Agent and Arden PTA. A Cardiac Science Power Heart G5 AED will enable rescue professionals and lay responders to effectively administer therapy to ensure any victim of sudden cardiac arrest has the best chance of survival.

Readily available 24/7 to the right hand side outside Arden entrance for anyone to use, it is the second public access defibrillator to be installed in Knowle (the other being at Hunters office on the High Street). The alarm code to release the defibrillator from its cabinet is given to the caller as soon as 999 is dialled.

Training has been given by the West Midlands Ambulance Service to several Arden staff but in an emergency any member of the public would be able to use the defib as it is fully automated and has a ‘Rescue Coach’ with auditory prompts to guide users through each critical step of a rescue.

“This is exactly the type of local cause we like to support with the funds raised at the Knowle Fun Run and Lion Festive Walk,” said Knowle and Dorridge Lion Dave Carter. “If you know of a local cause that is worthy of the Lions consideration please email us at info@knowleanddorridgelions.com“.
