Each year our Lions club usually nominates a number of charities as beneficiaries for our Lions Festive Walk, Easter Egg raffles and Knowle Fun Run whilst retaining a large portion of the sum raised for local causes.
Our Community Services committee then determines how we allocate the sum for local causes, enabling us to keep in touch with the elderly of our area with coach trips and tea parties, provide financial help for local young people undertaking travel through our Lions Youth Travel Bursary or other worthwhile projects; and make donations to many other one-off local worthy causes.
We are a charity registered with the charity commission (Registration no 509993), with that comes the responsibility to have our accounts audited and submitted every year. We believe it is important our accounts are as transparent as possible and strive to spend and donate all the money we raise responsibly within 12 months of it being raised.
To become one of our nominated charities you must apply to be short-listed and interviewed.
If you know of any charity, local cause or otherwise who you feel should benefit from our efforts as one of the major beneficiaries or for a lesser sum please contact our Community Services chair now
