Another great fundraiser organised by Knowle and Dorridge Lions saw nearly 700 cyclists set off from Packwood House last Sunday to wind their ways around the lanes of Warwickshire all in aid of charity.
“We were delighted to welcome so many riders again for the Heart of England Bike Ride on Sunday 16 July”, said organising Lion Paul Wheatley. “Last year the event raised over £20,000 for BHF and local charities, and we hope to get close to that figure again, when all the sponsorship has been received. As well as thanking all the riders and helpers I now have to thank the generous sponsors who enabled the Lions to tell riders that all their entry fees will go to the charity – BHF and Lions locally determined causes”
Cyclists had a choice of 12, 18, 30 or 60 miles with the dry weather encouraging many to tackle the 30 & 60 miles this year
Donna Stokes, BHF Fundraising Manager said: “It was great to see so many people on Sunday, enjoying themselves and returning safely and happy, having completed their personal challenges. We spoke to lots of people, some having personal reasons for supporting the charity and some just entering the event for the fun of it. We would like to thank them all for their support and hope to see them again next year.
I would also like to thank the Lions for successfully organising another event and all the volunteers who helped to make this event such a great experience for all. We could not put on events like this and raise funds for the charity without their support.”
